Gentle Whispers Of God
REPUBLISHED BY REQUEST
By Sherry Simmons
The gentle whisper of God, it is in the quiet times we feel Gods presence. Often we are so busy and caught up in our daily routines, we fail to hear Gods Voice.
God is always present, always watching over us and always ready to commune with us. It is us who fail to hear the gentle whispers of His Voice.
God speaks to us in gentle ways most of the time. Yes there is correction and judgment which can be loud and undeniable and there are quiet moments with our Creator. Our God is a gentle God whose love for us, is unsearchable. He desires us to have a relationship with him.
If we take time to be quiet, to shut off the world, we can hear his voice. It may or may not be an audible voice, it may be this peace which cannot be explained, a calming like no other. When we are still and seek to hear him, He is faithful to answer.
Have you ever been awakened from sleep, lay there in the events of your world wont shut off. You may try to go back to sleep but you cannot. It may very well be that our Father is nudging you to spend time with him. If we are so busy, so preoccupied with our life, we may not hear the whispering of God. We need to be still, we need to seek him in quiet moments.
God spoke to Elijah, not through the wind, not through the earthquakes not through the fire, but in a soft quiet voice. Elijah was scared and running for his life, God knew what he needed, not a thundering shaking voice, but a gentle whisper.
"he LORD said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the LORD, for the LORD is about to pass by.” Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake came a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave. Then a voice said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” 1 Kings 19:11-13
God knows exactly what we need, when we need it and how we need it. He knows our human nature and how we get so caught up we sometimes do not know which direction to focus on. If we make time, a quiet time to just be still we will hear the gentleness of God. There is a peace in these times in which we give these moments to Him, a peace which helps us to put our life back into perceptive.
Take time to be quiet with God, Open your heart and hear the gentle whispers of his Love. There is no other place on earth where you will find peace like the peace you have when you are in prayer and communion with Almighty God.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Psalm 91
1 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
This brings me such comfort during a very difficult time my husband and I are going through right now. Thank you!
